1-What is the Proficiency in Legal Practice Program about?
It is a professional training and qualification program designed to prepare law graduates both legally and professionally for the practice of law by providing them with the necessary practical knowledge, professional skills, and ethical standards.
2-Who is the target audience of the program?
The program targets:
• Law Graduates.
• Newly practicing lawyers.
3-What are the objectives of the program?
• Enhancing the professional competence of new lawyers in procedural and selected substantive laws.
• Linking theoretical knowledge with practical application.
• Promoting professional ethics and responsibility.
• Equipping trainees with skills in legal drafting, advocacy, legal consultation, and case management.
4-Is the program delivered in Arabic or English?
The program is delivered in Arabic, except for the Legal English Module, which is conducted in English.
5-What is the duration of the program?
The program lasts nine months, including:
• Theoretical lectures and practical activities.
• Practical training.
• Periodic and final assessments.

Yes. Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee is awarded a certificate accredited by the Ministry of Labour and endorsed by the College of Law in Australia, confirming fulfillment of the requirements of the Professional Certificate for the Practice of Law.

Yes. The program is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and endorsed by the College of Law in Australia, in accordance with approved professional legal training frameworks.
13-Does the program include mandatory practical training?
Yes. The program includes mandatory practical and applied training, which is an essential requirement for successful completion and aims to enhance the trainee’s practical experience.
14-Where is the program implemented?
The program is implemented at the premises of SLTC. Some activities or workshops may be delivered in person or under approved training arrangements.
15-Is passing all courses required to successfully complete the program?
Yes. Successful completion requires passing all theoretical and practical courses, the practical training component, and the final assessment.
16-Is reassessment available if a trainee fails a course?
Reassessment opportunities are available in accordance with the regulations and bylaws approved by SLTC.
17-Does the program focus more on practical or theoretical aspects?
The program primarily focuses on practical and applied training, supported by the necessary theoretical foundations for effective legal practice.
18-Does the program help prepare trainees for labor market requirements?

22-Is the program offered online or in a blended format?
No. This is a fully in-person program, and full attendance is mandatory to ensure effective practical training
23-How are the teaching hours scheduled?
Training will be for 3 hours per day (5 PM to 8 PM), four days a week for 9 months.
24-How many participants have previously completed the program?
The program has been successfully delivered to approximately 160 participants to date. Graduates of the program have progressed into roles such as lawyers, legal advisors, legal counsels, legal department managers, prosecutors, legal researchers, and assistant judges, across both public and private sectors.
25-Does completion of the program qualify lawyers in Oman for professional licensing or bar registration?
No. Completion of the program does not in itself grant lawyer licensing in Oman. However, the program is designed to equip participants with the practical knowledge, skills, and training hours required to better prepare them for the licensing examination and to support compliance with the training requirements stipulated under the Omani Advocacy Law.
